Without the help of schools like Semi Academy, our success factor might become limited. This letter is just a small token of our appreciation to your organization and your staff for the outstanding job you did in preparing one of your former students to become a Werner Enterprises team member and be recognized as one of the most professional drivers on the road today. Regards and best wishes…

HOW TO GET A CDL
The first step is to get a commercial learners permit. You may obtain this by going to the Secretary of State and taking a written test. You will need to study the Michigan Commercial Drivers License Manual.
The federal government requires all new CDL holders to go through entry-level drivers training (ELDT). Michigan’s ELDT is by content and not by hours. You must score 80% or higher on the tests and be proficient with skills and on the road driving in order to pass. Once you complete the course the scores will be entered on the federal data base and a test may be scheduled. Our program is an accelerated program so that means it’s a lot of information coming at you in a one-week time. You will need to spend time studying at home.
After you have the permit, you will need to email it or bring it to us along with your driver’s license and phone number to schedule for training. After we receive your information, we will contact you to discuss a time that works for you. The cost of training is $2,500 for one week with an Automatic Truck. If you would like to use a manual truck, the cost is $2,980 and you must have some experience with a manual transmission. Class times are from 8:00 am. to 4:30 pm. Monday through Friday. To hold your spot, we will need a $500 deposit, and a contract filled out. The remaining money is due one week before class starts. If Testing at Academy Testing the cost for a CDL A test is $180.
Requirements
To Schedule Training, Proof Of Valid Driver License And Temporary Instruction Permit Are Required.
Note: Student Should Consider Getting Their Medical Card Before Class Starts, As They Will Need It When They go to The Secretary Of State Office After Testing. *To Test: Must Pass The ELDT Training, Have The Temporary Instruction Permit (C.L.P.) 14 Days Prior To Test Date and Bring The Original CLP along with Driver License to test.
Payment
All classes are prepay. You may hold your spot in a class with a $500.00 nonrefundable deposit. You may make payments at your convenience until 1 week prior to the start of class. You may pay with cash, check or credit card. If paying with a credit card, your credit card issuer will charge you a 4% service fee.
